      ABOUT LOVE

I THOUGHT OF YOU

Tonight I thought of you
In evening’s chill
As shadows slipped across the hill
And stars were folded into night
And disappeared,
But that’s all right

I knew the evening
Would not bring
Compassion with the warmth of spring
The Ides of March is never kind
When blowing through
But never mind

I still can find
A loveliness
To bitter nights, but I confess
A certain hush to solitude
A certain edge
to loneliness

The field was black
The pond was still
And in the wraps of evening chill
As memories were passing through
I thought of you
I thought of you

HOLD ME LIKE THE NIGHT

Don’t touch me in the way a moonbeam
Strokes a sleeping rose
Bathing only half a flow’r
In iridescent glows

Hold me like the darkness folds
Its arms around a bloom
Saturating every velvet wing
It can consume

Come to me as twilight’s fingers gather fading light
Then hold me like the night

Hold me as a tree that’s wrapped
In tightly clinging bark
Let me feel across my skin
The contours of the dark

Blanket me and keep me
In your tender womb of love
In the blackest shadows
Under little stars above

Let evening mist erase the distant polka dots of white
and hold me like the night

Love me like a breeze caresses
Spring time as it blows
Like crystal beads of morning dew
Embrace a fragile rose

Bathe my skin completely with the
Sweetness of your mist
Smother me in passion with
The softness of a kiss

Take me like wind snuffs out a flame of candle light
And hold me like the night
